The Lot

The placement and orientation of the home on the lot is carefully planned. The grade of the lot may be utilized for a walk out or to bring natural light into the basement. We plan carefully to minimize tree loss and position the house to take advantage of views, maximize the natural light and heat provided by the sun by utilizing passive solar design techniques. For passive heating and cooling, the plan of the house, careful site selection and planning, construction materials, building features and other aspects of the home are designed to collect, store and distribute the sun's heat in winter; and to block the sun's rays in summer. This can result in a dramatic decrease in the energy required to heat the home in the winter and cool the home in the summer.
